Restaurants
Stars in the Lot…. fantastic restaurants!

In addition to the Michelin-starred restaurants in the Lot and the local restaurants in Gourdon, the Parc Village de Montmarsis has a brasserie where Chef de Cuisine Marcel and his wife Jacqueline serve honest and varied meals. They have worked all over the world and offer a variety of tasty dishes!

The morning starts with freshly baked croissants, baguettes, dark breads, savories and sweets from our own bakery. For lunch you can order a grilled cheese sandwich or a tasty salad. Almost every day: Chips and a homemade meatball or an Italian pizza.

Saffron, lamb, melons… a flavor for every season

A fine selection of products, full of the typical taste of this region with a strong local identity.

From one side of the department to the other, the Lot has made its specialties its greatest ambassadors.

Taste and try saffron

More expensive than caviar, which comes from a blue flower brought to the region by returning crusaders. In the Lot, where it has come from since the 11th century, it is called “red gold”. Indeed, it is almost as expensive: about 30,000 euros per kilo! But you don’t need that much: 0.1 g is more than enough to season a dish for 4 people.

The production of Crocus sativus is a delicate affair, especially when it comes to harvesting the stigmas, three per bulb, in October-November.

The inhabitants of the Lot, who have a lot of imagination, have held a competition to combine this spice with local products. Widely used by local chefs, there are also sheep’s cheese with saffron from Quercy, sorbets and ice creams with saffron, sweets, syrups, aperitifs…

Local Quercy lamb feast

On the Causse there is short, dry grass, dry stone walls and ewes with black circles around their eyes: it looks like they are wearing sunglasses! These good mothers of the Caussenarde breed tenderly care for their lambs in the cool shade of the sheepfold, as soon as they return from grazing on the Causse. Fed mainly with milk seasoned with wild herbs from the Causse for 70 days, the lambs prove to be true champions…

The result? Very high quality meat, protected by a PGI (protected geographical indication).

Fall for the Quercy melon

The melon, which has been grown in the commune of Castelnau Montratier in Quercy for almost a century, is one of the showpieces of the department. Thanks to its tasty properties, its orange flesh, its melting texture and its delicate honeyed taste, it was awarded IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) status in 2004. Melon lovers enjoy it as such, roasted, in soup or as jam.

Taste the delicious walnut delicacies

Franquette, Marbot, Corne and Grandjean are the stars of the AOC “Noix du Périgord” awarded in 2002. They supply fresh/dried walnuts, oil, wine, liqueurs, delicious pastries, cookies and sweets. There are nut trees on the banks of the Dordogne. The local specialty, the walnut cake, is of course very popular here. This soft and good tasting cake consists only of sugar, butter, eggs and flour… and walnuts of course.

Discover the secrets of the famous Pastis

Every trip to the Lot includes a “Pastis”, a type of pastry filled with apples soaked in rum. Mmm… Such a fine and delicate pastry – does it remind you of…? Yes, the “pastilla” (Moroccan specialty): it was the Moors who left this recipe in the southwest.

Enjoy a refreshing Ratz beer

It became clear to this engineer and former rugby player that he simply had to brew a craft beer. He founded his brewery in Fontanes, near Cahors, and brews pure malt beer with an aromatic hop infusion. His unpasteurized beers each have their own personality: flavored, organic, amber, pilsner, white or stout.
